Quando, em 2000, decidiu fazer o MBA Executivo Internacional do Profuturo FIA, João Paulo Altenfelder era executivo da área de marketing da C&A, empresa onde já trabalhava há 12 anos. Ainda durante o curso, optou por um redirecionamento da carreira: foi para o Terceiro Setor – primeiro na Fundação Abrinq, depois no GESC, projeto de ex-alunos da FIA que resultou na criação de um instituto que apoia organizações da sociedade civil na busca por eficiência na gestão. Em 2006, João Paulo fundou uma consultoria na área, a SEI Assessoria em Sustentabilidade. When, in 2000, he decided to do the International Executive MBA of  Profuturo FIA, João Paulo Altenfelder was an executive at the marketing area of the C&A, company where he had already worked for 12 years. Also during the course, he chose a career redirection: He went to the Third Sector - first in the Abrinq Foundation, after the GESC, alumni project of FIA which resulted in the creation of an institute that supports civil society organizations in the search for efficient management. In 2006, João Paulo founded a consultancy office in the area, SEI Advisor on Sustainability. In this way, the MBA had relevant participation. “Eu estava na C&A como executivo na área de marketing e já tinha 12 anos de empresa quando entrei no MBA. Durante o curso, fiz uma mudança de carreira, saindo da área de varejo e indo para o Terceiro Setor. Assumi a posição de gerente de Planejamento Estratégico da Fundação Abrinq. Fiquei por dois anos na função, atuando no processo de planejamento de toda a organização.
Ao terminar o MBA, fui convidado para fazer parte do GESC – projeto dos ex-alunos da FIA voltado a levar qualidade de gestão para organizações da sociedade civil. Assumi o projeto e, durante seis anos, foram possíveis as seguintes conquistas: levar o projeto voluntário para a formalização profissional com a fundação do Instituto GESC; atender a 600 organizações sociais em projetos do Instituto GESC ou em parcerias com empresas como Natura, Roche, Pfizer, Merck-Serono, Novartis e C&A, entre outras; desenvolver e implantar a plataforma de ensino a distância chamada GESC NET. Um dos marcos mais importantes do Instituto GESC foi se aproximar ao tema da Sustentabilidade Social e participar, junto com o Conselho Empresarial Brasileiro de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (CEBDS), de encontros com empresários para discussão do tema; e, com a Universidade de Michigan, realizar encontros internacionais sobre Advocacy e qualidade de gestão e inovação para o Terceiro Setor.

"I was at C&A as an executive in marketing and had had 12 years of business when I entered the MBA. During the course, I made a career change, leaving the retail area and going to the Third Sector. I assumed the position of Strategic Planning Manager at Abrinq Foundation. I stayed for two years this position, working in the planning process of any organization. When I finished the MBA, I was invited to be part of GESC - project of the alumni of FIA returned to take quality management to civil society organizations. I took over the project, and for six years, the following achievements were possible: take the volunteer project for professional formalization with the foundation of GESC Institute; meet the 600 social organizations in projects GESC Institute or in partnership with companies like Natura, Roche, Pfizer, Merck-Serono, Novartis and C & A, among others; develop and deploy the distance learning  platform called GESC NET. One of the most important milestones of GESC Institute was approaching the issue of Social Sustainability and participate, together with the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), meetings with businessmen to discuss the topic; and with the University of Michigan, hold international meetings on Advocacy and quality management and innovation for the Third Sector.

Em 2006, fundei a SEI Assessoria em Sustentabilidade, uma consultoria no tema da Sustentabilidade Empresarial. Temos trabalhado projetos relacionados a gestão de relacionamento com stakeholders, governança para sustentabilidade e planejamento estratégico. Entre os clientes, temos empresas como Roche, Nissan, Ticket, CMPC, Veracel, BP, Chevron, BG, Interfarma, Suzano, Banco ABC Brasil, entre outras. Hoje atuo também com aulas em cursos da FIA e Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

In 2006, I founded the SEI Advisor on Sustainability, a consultancy office in Corporate Sustainability theme. We have worked on projects related to relationship management with stakeholders, governance for sustainability and strategic planning. Among the customers, we have companies like Roche, Nissan, Ticket, CMPC, Veracel, BP, Chevron, BG, Interfarma, Suzano, Banco ABC Brazil, among others. Nowadays I also  work with classes in FIA courses and Getúlio Vargas Foundation.
