"Eu me formei em
Engenharia Química em 1994 e logo entrei em uma consultoria da área de
Tecnologia, que acabou comprada por uma grande multinacional. Em dez anos na
empresa, cheguei ao cargo de gerente sênior. Em 2005, meu marido teve a
oportunidade de ser transferido para os Estados Unidos e decidimos aceitar. Fui
sem emprego mas consegui uma oportunidade em uma empresa global, onde também
pude crescer.
"I graduated in Chemical Engineering in 1994 and soon entered into a consulting Technology area, which was eventually bought by a large multinational. In ten years working for the company, I came to the position of senior manager. In 2005, my husband had the opportunity to be transferred to the United States and decided to accept. I joined him and got to the United States without a job but I had an opportunity at a global company, which could also grow.
Depois de alguns anos longe em
2012 tomei a decisão pessoal de voltar para o Brasil, sobretudo porque queria
que meus dois filhos soubessem o que é ter uma família por perto, pudessem
conviver com os avós e tios. Quando se está em um cargo alto - eu era líder de
operações de vendas -, fica mais difícil conseguir uma posição semelhante nas
subsidiárias. Larguei o emprego para voltar ao País. Primeiro foquei em guiar a
adaptação das crianças porque meus filhos chegaram sem saber escrever em
português, até sem falar muito bem.
After a few years away in 2012 I made the personal decision to return to Brazil, especially because I wanted my two children to know what is to have a family nearby, could live together with grandparents and uncles. When you're in a high office - I was leading sales operations - it is difficult to achieve a similar position at the subsidiaries. I quit the job to return to the country. First I was focused on guiding the kids’ adaptation because my children arrived in Brazil without knowing how to write in Portuguese, even without speaking very well.
Quando voltei a buscar emprego,
tive uma surpresa nas posições executivas, sempre era cobrado um MBA. Eu tinha
quase 20 anos de bagagem, experiência internacional, mas não conseguia posição
por que me faltava esse pré-requisito.
When
I started to look for a new job, it has
come the surprise: for executive
positions an MBA course was quite mandatory. I had nearly 20 years of professional experience, international experience, but I
was not able to be hired because I did not have this prerequisite.
O MBA era algo que sempre
esteve em meus planos, mas acabou nunca se concretizando até então. Nos anos de
consultoria no Brasil, eu viajava muito, nunca conseguia fazer. Nos Estados
Unidos, com filhos pequenos e sem família por perto, não teria tempo para me
dedicar. De volta ao Brasil, tentando voltar ao mercado, percebi que aquele era
o momento, até para poder fazer networking.
The MBA was something that was always in my plans, but had never ended up coming true before. In the consultancy in Brazil, I used to travel a lot, I could never do. In the United States, with young children and no family nearby, I would not have time to devote myself. Back in Brazil, trying to return to the job market, I realized that this was the moment to be able to do networking.
Comecei o MBA em março de 2014
e em dois meses eu estava empregada - antes havia tentado por nove meses. Mesmo
sem ter concluído, as empresas sentem mais segurança por que você já começou.
Terminei o curso em novembro de 2015 e estou como líder de operações de uma das
unidades mais importantes da companhia, respondendo diretamente ao
vice-presidente.
I started the MBA in March 2014 and in two months I was employed - before starting the MBA I had tried to get a new job for nine months. Even without having completed, companies feel more secure that you have already started. I finished the course in November 2015 and I am a leader of one of the most important units of the company operations, reporting directly to the Vice President.
Um MBA de fato agrega
conhecimento. Apesar da experiência prática, tem alguns conceitos que para mim
não estavam tão bem solidificados. No meu caso eram questões financeiras. O
curso ainda leva o profissional a pensar de forma estratégica. A troca de
experiência também conta muito. Minha turma pegou esta crise, na qual todos
foram afetados, e foi interessante para discutir e adaptar soluções diferentes
para o mesmo problema."
It is a fact that MBA adds knowledge. Despite the practical experience, there are some concepts that for me were not so well solidified. In my case financial issues were the problem. . The course also leads the professional to think strategically. The exchange of experience also counts a lot. My class was amid this current economic crisis, in which all was affected, and it was interesting to discuss and adapt different solutions to the same problem”.
